John Hunter Nemechek starring in new Luke Combs music video ‘Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma’
? Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Legacy Motor Club driver John Hunter Nemechek is getting one of his first acting credits as he will apparently star in the new Luke Combs music video. The NASCAR driver was named in the credits in a recent post by Combs.

John Hunter Nemechek is in the middle of the Cup Series season. However, he has time for a few extracurricular activities. Country music superstar Luke Combs has a new video coming out for “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma,” which was made for the new Twisters film.

It’s great to see John Hunter Nemechek involved in something like this. The song and music video come out officially next Thursday, May 16. NASCAR drivers need to be involved in more stuff like this. Get them back into the pop culture sphere where they belong.

I’m sure that fellow Toyota driver and Oklahoma native, Christopher Bell, won’t be jealous or anything. It’s just a song about his home state featuring another NASCAR driver.

NASCAR fans are going to be into this I think. Seeing a driver in a Luke Combs video is awesome. While Combs hasn’t been to a race in a year or two, he has played at a couple of races in the past. Whenever you’re at a race, you can probably hear his music being played at one camping spot or another.

John Hunter Nemechek finding his footing in 2024

So, to turn things back to the race track, John Hunter Nemechek is having a below-average season. That isn’t necessarily his fault, either. When Legacy Motor Club made the choice to switch from Chevy to Toyota, I think early struggles were expected.

These drivers are learning the new car, the new Camry XSE body – even Erik Jones, before his injury, was having trouble at times. So far this season Nemechek has been able to pull off a couple of top-10 finishes. His last two races have been respectable overall.

At Dover and Kansas, Nemechek was able to pull off two top-20 finishes. P20 at Dover and P13 at Kansas. It doesn’t sound like much but those finishes of P20 or better are going to be what pushes this team to the next level they need to reach.

For many teams like the 42 team of John Hunter Nemechek, it’s the small steps that add up. Stacking pennies, as Corey LaJoie describes it.
