Philadelphia 76ers: Fans Roast Kelly Oubre Jr. After Honest Take on Jalen Brunson’s 47 points in Game 4
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Kelly Oubre Jr. did not have any scathing remarks about the New York Knicks after losing to their Atlantic Division rivals in Game 4 of the series on Sunday, but he still caught the ire of several fans, particularly Knickerbockers supporters.

After the 76ers’ 97-92 home loss to the Knicks, Oubre shared his thoughts on Brunson going off for 47 points on 34 attempts from the field.

Here’s what Oubre said about Brunson (h/t New York Basketball):

“34 shots. (Shakes head.) I mean yeah he’s a great player…love his game…But anybody shoots 34 shots that has skill &’s a great player, they’re gonna be able to do well. And especially…getting mismatches…Was due”

Most of the replies to that particular post have been negative toward Oubre, though, he clearly gave Brunson and the Knicks props.

“Oubre takes 34 shots and he’ll probably come away with 12. His most attempts in a game was 27, he dropped 28 in that game,” said X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) @MalachiCooper17.

“He used to embiid having 40 shooting 15 shots and 35 free throws,” commented @Knicksin41.

“Wearing a Flyers jersey after getting cooked by New York is some insanely Philly energy,” @JeffEisenband said while managing to take a swipe at the Philadelphia Flyers as well.

From @dj_viggi: “Losers deflect, winners take accountability so…We see what it is Who-bre ‍”

“I’m so glad this team is about to go out of the playoffs again. Not one aspect of them is likeable. Embiid is a clown too,” chimed in @Challenger_ST.

Brunson only averaged 21.4 field goal attempts per game back in the regular season, but he’s taken it up notches since the start of the playoffs. So far in the series versus the Sixers, Brunson has been taking 29.0 attempts from the floor per outing, while converting them on a 40.5 percent rate. He hasn’t been efficient with his shots, but the Knicks will continue to give him the ball a lot, especially after the success they had with him taking over in Game 4.
