Falcons' Terrell: Top 10 NFL CB?
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach training camp, Atlanta Falcons defender A.J. Terrell will attempt to prove that he’s still a top-10 cornerback in the league.

Last season was the worst of Terrell’s professional career, and the team’s struggles in the secondary were evident as they allowed the eighth most total passing yards. However, outside of his third season, Terrell has been an impressive cornerback, making an All-Pro team in just his second season.

Despite his subpar outing in 2022, ESPN has ranked him as the 10th-best cornerback heading into 2023.

“Very well-rounded,” an NFL personnel man told ESPN. “Just a really good player who checks all the boxes. Can play press-man or zone, good feet, smooth.”

As the 25-year-old corner enters his fourth season, he’ll be looking to impress the Falcons organization so that he can sign before the start of the fifth and final year of his rookie contract.

Luckily for Terrell, his responsibilities in the secondary should be easier to handle this upcoming season, thanks to Atlanta acquiring more talent at safety in Jessie Bates III and Jeff Okudah at cornerback.

If Terrell can get back to playing as he did in his second season when he had three interceptions, 16 passes defended, three tackles for loss, and 81 tackles, not only would he secure himself a massive payday, but he’d have a strong argument to be rated higher amongst his cornerback contemporaries.

While being considered top 10 in the league at your position is certainly something worth taking pride in, Terrell must now validate his ranking by putting forth a spectacular season in his fourth year with the Falcons
